College life is one of the best experiences that a person must have. There is a chance that you can meet different kinds of people – with their different stories – as well as new expertise that you will surely ponder once you step into the outside world.

Did you even imagine yourself after college?

This question is quite easy at first hand but as time passes by, you will realize that it is not that easy at all.

College life is one of the best experiences that a person must have. There is a chance that you can meet different kinds of people – with their different stories – as well as new expertise that you will surely ponder once you step into the outside world.

There will be no other person that will completely know how the workplace look like but only those who is “really there” and is experienced. Often, they say, it is the person who experienced it at first hand knows best, other than those who merely see it.

School is far way more different from the workplace. Having a job requires a huge responsibility; it is not just a “playground” in a way that you should only enjoy, but a playground where you can “play” in a way that you apply all your ability and skills in every of your output. You should “play” according to a specific task – a “playtime” of your strengths.

Working in the mass media, we are often labeled as “jack of all trades.” A communication arts graduate must always have the courage to “transform” himself/herself to another persona; one must be able to adapt to the environment. It maybe one of the most disregarded programs in the college, but it is definitely one of the courses that has the most challenging future ahead.

Off course, being a student also requires stress and hard work – most specially in this kind of field. There will be a lot of training that will be introduced to prepare you in the so called “real life.” There will be indeed surprises that awaits you there – either the bests or the worsts, so you better be prepared! – but at the same time, there will be also some expected scenes you may encounter. The things you have learned will eventually help you in your future profession. This thing will be kept by the time you are having your “life” in the outside world.

That “bloody” 4 years are a roller coaster ride. It is full of excitement, joyful moments, as well as frustrations and disappointments. These experiences, whether good or bad, will always have a great impact to your life that you can still cherish. Maybe for some, school works and other academic activities are burden to every students life, but little did they know, it also serves as stepping stone on improving one’s skills and abilities.

When we talk about challenges, either as a professional or a young professional, you should know how to handle it graciously. Off course you will meet different kinds of people – with different kinds of attitude – and the best way to deal with them is to apply what you have learned – to be resilient and must have a courage to overpower this kind of factors that will ruin your performance as a professional.

Comparing the two different environments, they indeed have their own difficulty. It is just a matter of what to focus first. A professional will not be able to have its limelight without experiencing the burden of the schools. A production will not be pushed through with a pre-production process and will not be improved without the post-production process. Or simply, a person will not be knowledgeable enough of certain things without leaning and analyzing it. In simpler words, in order to arrive in our finish line, we need to cross its pathway first and go to its every corner.

In an exclusive interview above, Mr. Angelico Aguilar, Faculty of Mass Communication department of Saint Louis University answers our 50 questions regarding the life outside the corners of the school campus.
