You’d most likely hear the name “sir AA” often at the Perfecto building of Saint Louis University especially along the halls where there are mass communication students. He is quite known among the communications department for his demeanor of being approachable and friendly towards his students.
Mr. Angelico D. Aguilar is an alumna of Saint Louis University who took up Bachelor of Arts in Communication and was a former Vice-president of the SLU Mass Communication Society. He was also a part of the university’s resident performing group SLU Center for Culture and the Arts Dance Troupe and is now on the process of studying Developmental Communication at Benguet State University.
Prior to being a communications instructor in his Alma matter, upon graduating, Sir Angelico started in the field of media under the ABS-CBN network as a publisher for The Filipino Channel or commonly known as TFC as he was in charge for the editing and publication of videos to cater to their audience of Filipinos outside the country wanting to have access to the shows of the network giant.
Getting to where he is right now, Sir AA has faced numerous challenges especially considering the nature of the career field he is in which would require the skill to work under pressure, meeting countless of deadlines, revisions and rejections. When asked about the greatest challenge he had to face, he answered it being the new environment that he had to immerse himself into especially since he came from the province and was new to the fast-paced setting of Metro Manila. He made mention of the fact that graduates from the provinces would be challenged in terms of applying for jobs since they are competing with graduates coming from prestigious schools in the city but because of hard work and passion for the craft he was doing, he landed his first job at one of the media network giants in the country.

For Mr. Aguilar, his key to overcoming these struggles was his resiliency and self-motivation that kept him going to pursue his career. “I’m am bigger than my challenge” is the mantra that he has in facing anything.
One of his greatest achievements that he mentioned was him being able to aide his brother in finishing his tertiary education, being able to help him graduate.
His teachers, experiences, parents and of course, challenges are the things that shaped him into who he is right now which you would see by the way he gives his 100 or even 200% in his work and imparts his knowledge among his students who plan to take the same field as well.
Sir AA emphasized his stand on press freedom that is to always be on the side of the poor, knowing the responsibility to empower marginalized people and being the bridge between the government and the people which is the heart of his craft.
